How
to ...
Convert
a Photo to a Chart
With
StitchCraft's Photo Conversion feature, photos or pictures can
be converted into charts easily.
The quality of a converted chart will depend on the quality of
the original image, and it may require some manual touch up work
to perfect it, but for complex images, it is an efficient method
of charting. Inevitably some detail will be lost in the charting
process, but this can be minimized if you size your chart to suit
the complexity of an image. Complex images will need to be larger
charts than simple images. When converting an image, it is important
to obtain a good quality scan. Scan your image at a resolution
to produce a file of about 2 MB size. If the image is too large
StitchCraft will automatically resize it.

Photos
that make good charts are:
1. Photos with good colour contrasts (this will
add definition to the design).
2. Photos that have no important fine detail (such detail may
be lost in the conversion).
3. Photos with one main subject in clear focus (this improves
the quality and composition of a design)

of photos that aren't easily converted:

Detail is too small for stitches

Not enough colour contrast
